“To make it vital — to live it myself!" Kierkegaard
José Cosme (Valencia, 1968) undertakes for the show Everything and Nothing (MACBO, March 2018) the construction of a sensitive alphabet that allows him to revisit some fundamental questions for the interpretation of reality. This gesture, conceived as a dialogue of knowledge and experiences, is made up of 08 installation-based proposals, in which each of the works challenges the viewer and calls on them to unfold questions from the agonizing and the contingent: what is nature? What is God? What is man? What is transcendence?
National and international artists have joined the permanent collection over the past eight years. The selection of these thirteen works, which span different languages such as video, painting, printmaking, installation, performance, and photography, aims to show a panorama from contemporaneity where different readings of the context can be made.
This show, made up of a Colombian artist and a Finnish artist, explores and works with photography and video, touching on themes such as conflict, memory, geographic spaces, political power, authority, religion, secrecy, and darkness. This project seeks to weave together two visual languages that are geographically separated, but united by aesthetics and technique, placing them in bilateral dialogue.
This is an exhibition proposal that starts from a series of popular beliefs and actions that people carry out to feel that they have some control over the events of life, filling themselves with confidence that things will turn out well, that they will be protected from adverse circumstances attributed to a lack of luck. Plants, objects, and body parts of certain animals have been used since ancient times for their various magical properties, and their use as amulets gives the person who places all their faith in these objects and rituals that confidence and protection for their home, their work, in love, as well as the promise of achieving success in games and bets.

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá MAC – UNIMINUTO Cultural Entity, is pleased to present the Puerto Rican artist Heriberto Nieves, visual artist and urban sculptor. Museums and international galleries in France, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, among others, have been the stage for this creator's numerous exhibitions and great acclaim. His return to Bogotá comes with an exhibition full of perceptive messages in which he draws out primeval substances from metals and chromatic ranges. Those who observe his pieces with an investigative eye will experience in the works a persistence of feelings that communicate methodically through aesthetic variations that surpass ordinary reasoning, as critic José Antoni Pérez Ruiz has stated.
A show recreated through painting and drawing as a lyrical reading of reality and other forms of existence.
For 15 years, this initiative has brought together universities and academies in Colombia offering programs in plastic and visual arts to submit their best degree projects; more than 700 new artists from every region of Colombia have taken part.
The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá, MAC – UNIMINUTO Cultural Entity, closes the year with three major shows: Fragmented, Nigredo, and Being Animal. Their importance lies in the union of expressions and cultures across the Pacific Rim; countries such as Korea, the United States, Mexico, and Colombia share this common maritime border, and many of the cultural expressions found here reflect these processes and encounters.
"You cannot go back because life is already pushing you on like an endless howl"
