"ÉTËR" by Gris One and Mario Álvarez, two Bogotá-based artists joined in a pictorial exercise between writing, painting, drawing, and muralism, in which each creation attempts to capture their admiration for the infinite and the unknown, creating images in which space and time become part of a poetic narrative that transports viewers to alternate realities. According to some theories, the connotation of ETHER, based in physics, was a hypothetical, extremely light substance believed to fill all of space like a fluid. On the other hand, drawing on Greek beliefs, ether was defined as a luminous substance breathed by the gods, in contrast to the heavy air breathed by mortals. As a substance, ether was discussed as far back as pre-Socratic times (before the 4th century B.C.), as one of the five elements of nature. In this way, the artists define their artistic process as a space, a sound of emptiness, that contains the intangible, a contrast of indefinite depth, the horizon, a hole, the refraction of light on a mountain, the space between a stone and its shadow, stillness, the reflection of a farewell in the iris, and chrome-plated liquid.
