The artist Jorge Restrepo has issued a Mail Art call, titled “Peace in Colombia,” related to the importance of the plebiscite.   This call is directed at artists and creators from the country and the world, so that through their works they may encourage and nourish with ideas the conscious participation of Colombians in the plebiscite.   The project is backed by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá, as a “citizen initiative, with no ties to parties or political movements. It is a call for free expression”. 

Research is not an exercise carried out only in academia; human beings are always searching for knowledge they can debate, accept, or confirm as they discover more about their surroundings. Curiosity is the foundation of research, since it is through curiosity that new interactions are generated, resulting in the production of knowledge with a specific purpose, generally applicable to identified needs. 

The artistic collective Comida de Guerra was created at the beginning of this decade in London by two Colombian artists, initially inspired by social and cultural phenomena coming from the Middle East. Later, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and the development of Gastroperformance were the collective's next steps.

“The 21st century is a time of hybridization, in which issues as fundamental as identity, gender, ancestral heritage, ecology, technology, social organization, and critical thought are valued in parallel”. Gustavo Ortiz, Director of MAC . For this reason, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá-MAC opens 2020 with the curatorial project “Hybrid Identities”. A space for recognizing the ethnographic, the traditional, syncretism, territory, and the social. An experience built on recognizing the differences that unite us and the history we share in a country as diverse as Colombia.

Finding in creative processes spaces that can enrich the construction of interdisciplinary works, built through dialogue and the exchange of knowledge, horizontally, with the aim of conceiving education as the enjoyment of knowledge. Driven by a threefold point of view: the aesthetic, centered on the question of how to materially translate a communicative or artistic desire; the historical, grounded in how to situate oneself within a web of artistic, cinematic, and praxeological research references; and the social, which asks how to find a coherent position in relation to the current state of artistic production and social relations.

That disbelief which drove Thomas¹ to doubt his master is the very verb that Íván Castiblanco activates today through his work. Using everyday objects dating from the early twentieth century, he gives material form to the bodily memories of childhood, building 6 assemblages in which drawing and sculpture converge.

I look at the floor and ask myself where I am standing; the floor is what supports my place in life. What is that place? In this life I suddenly felt confused, incoherent, full of contradictions. And who doesn't? I was supposedly heading toward a place full of colored dots, but suddenly I feel far from that premise I was meant to travel.

The frenzy of the media always turns toward the "sensational," bringing before the viewer's eye violent images in which confusion reigns. Most of the games available to children are based on fear itself… The individual's base instincts are satisfied in the manner of a "voyeur," but this has the effect of standardizing the gaze.

Cyber Era is a fiction composed of three scenarios: Extinction, Genesis and Technotropic, set during the final decades of the 21st century, marking the end of the Anthropocene period. This trilogy narrates the mass extinction of species, similar to the one that occurred three hundred million years earlier, at the end of the Permian period known as the Great Dying.   

The existence and actions of every human being carry a political character; this curatorial selection brings together works whose central axis is the human body in relation to itself, to society, to institutions, the economy, and their interactions.

In this curatorial selection, visitors will find the masterful use of Strappo and sculpture techniques, which allow the artist to pull the street essence that graffiti symbolizes on urban walls and transfer it into the museum space, blurring the boundaries previously marked by established cultural canons. Studio 101 will captivate us with its collages, mapping projections, experimental videos, and photographs in alternate worlds that aim to open the door to independent interpretation.  http://bit.ly/2JC0qtn
