The artist Jorge Restrepo has issued a Mail Art call, titled “Peace in Colombia,” related to the importance of the plebiscite. This call is directed at artists and creators from the country and the world, so that through their works they may encourage and nourish with ideas the conscious participation of Colombians in the plebiscite. The project is backed by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá, as a “citizen initiative, with no ties to parties or political movements. It is a call for free expression”.

Throughout the project, which expects to receive works through digital and physical means, various activities will also be carried out at the Museum; these include the opportunity for visitors to create, on-site and as part of the project, works in the official size, which is letter.
Mail Art emerged in the 1950s, using postal services as its vehicle. It allows total freedom of messages, taking place among artists, outside commercial and curatorial circuits. Works can result from spontaneous exchange or respond to an open call. In recent years mixes between postal mailings and the use of email have emerged, stemming from the calls of a mail-artist.
