Thesis Project

Thesis Project

For the past 15 years, this initiative has invited universities and academies across Colombia that offer visual and plastic arts programs to submit their best thesis projects; more than 700 new artists from every region of Colombia have taken part. The project awards creative grants that allow the winners to develop new artistic projects, follows their careers, and links them to the curatorial work carried out by the museum. In partnership with other institutions, it has achieved international participation in biennials and artist residencies. For many recent graduates, it is the first time they exhibit in a museum, which also helps build their professional profile. As a complement to this project, a Thesis Bank was created, which now holds approximately 1,300 theses, giving researchers, students, and professors a view of the arts in Colombia in the 21st century.
