César Padilla has gone through a long process of training in which he has gradually mastered line work, using it to generate a rich visual vocabulary expressed in screen prints, aquatints, etchings, paintings, bas-reliefs, reliefs, laminar sculptures, artist's books, poetry collections, wire works, drawings and objects.

Looking through his sketchbooks reveals the delicate, almost surgical process he carries out with drawing to separate planes, understand internal spaces, their meanders and enveloping paths; there, the external complementary elements become evident, his path walking along the edge, the risk he takes on every sheet, in every stroke of the burin, in every strike of the gouge.

César Padilla has pushed its use to even greater limits; not content with the plane, he has extended into three-dimensionality, exploring the void, that elusive space that allows objects to exist and that enables us to understand the environment we move through

The exhibition titled Riesgo de ser is divided into three moments of master Padilla's work: Vértices y fronteras, Los complementos y Exlibris. A wonderful opportunity to bring works from the MAC's permanent collection into dialogue with the serial work César Padilla has created for various artists, as well as to give visiting audiences access to printmaking techniques and the process of creating a series of works – a subject that could not have a better exponent, as he has witnessed and played a leading role in the last three decades of art in Colombia.

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition, which will take place on Saturday, April 5, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm; the show will be open to the public until April 30, 2014.
