An anonymous table in a park serves as a portal to convergent and divergent paths; the connecting thread is the city, the urban, the space created by human beings.
Convergences occur through daily sharing, through the attunement of the gaze, through technical handling, and through thematic content; the city is a setting that seduces with its long perspectives, with the halo of speed leaving its trace on the retina, but reflections, shadows, old and dilapidated facades, or modern glass buildings are also appealing, and of course passersby are appealing too — their actions, their gazes, their footsteps.
Divergences are processes of change, of variation, of angle of vision, and of course of a different approach to reality. That city, as a great open and explorable stage, offers every kind of option, which Mabel and Luis Fernando synthesize in their photographs.
Divergent and convergent is the search for the fleeting imprint; it is that open window we leave to the imagination, serving as a channel to establish communication between the internal and the external, between the public and the private, between light and shadow. It is the span of time in which we click the shutter and capture the ephemeral, freezing it into an image that reveals a multiplicity of meanings without ever being exhausted.
After its run at the MAC, the exhibition will travel to the Museo de La Aduana in Barranquilla during May 2013, and later to the Museo Bolivariano in Santa Marta and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Cartagena in 2014.
