On the occasion of the Year: France-Colombia 2017, Convergence Zone invites, in its second edition, the association imagespassages, dedicated to contemporary visual and digital arts, whose name originates from the exhibition « passage de l’image » organized by the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 1990/91, which questioned the status of the image with the arrival of the digital age and the internet. Since its founding in 1993, ''imagespassages'' has been devoted to the dissemination of the moving image, both nationally and internationally.

During the residency and exhibition at the MAC Bogotá, the founder and artistic director of the association imagespassages, Annie Auchère Aguettaz, will present a selection of digital works by French artists around themes that are highly relevant to contemporary life: Body in the City, Urban Space, Magical Realism and the Burlesque, approaching in a different way one of the fundamental problems that has afflicted our country since the 1990s, the issue of Displacement.
imagespassages also brings us one of the artists who are part of the association: Philippe Astorg, who in most of his videos stages a character possessing burlesque traits, a character who is also marginal and who fights against non-recognition, oppression, and exclusion. During his residency, the artist proposes to stage a performance featuring this character questioning the indigenous person, the misfit, the excluded, above all those who have no voice in society. From a contemporary perspective, Philippe invites us to reflect, not so much from the stigmatized view of peoples who suffer in relation to their nationality, but on a global level, on all those abandoned by history. His performance, as the artist says, offers us a bridge between the different oppressed peoples.
Once again, Convergence Zone offers artists from two cities located on different continents the chance to create an in-situ work in a city far from their place of residence, an experience that opens doors not only for a productive exchange with local artists, but also to connect with the community and the culture of the place, with the aim of achieving a convergence both artistic and human and social.
Convergence Zone, is a project of exchange between artists from Bogotá and various cities around the world that includes an artistic production residency in each of the two cities, created and directed by Claudia Robles-Angel.
The show will open on Thursday, March 2 at 5:00 pm and will be open to the public until April 6, 2017.
